Become a Rowbics™ Instructor
With the sport of indoor rowing, you can safely and effec-
tively train a wider range of clients--those with lifestyles that
vary from athletic to sedentary and age groups from youth to
mature adults.

Indoor and group rowing brings new meaning to offering a
satisfying,fun workout fit for all ages and fitness levels.
If you are on a quest to experience and deliver trainings at a
higher level,take one of our workshops and learn why rowers
are privy to some of the most effective and time-tested fitness
solutions.

You'll practice:

• Efficiently burning more calories (up to 800 per hour)
• Building long lean muscle mass
• Correcting common technique errors
• Improving power,speed and endurance
• Creating unique workouts for virtually any fitness goal

To become a Rowbics™ Certified Instructor, you must complete the following Training & Certification Process:

1. Attend Rowbics™ 2-day Instructor Training Workshop
2. Complete Practical Evaluation (PE) and teach a mini-class as part of the Workshop.
3. Obtain signed “PE Approval Form” documenting review and approval of instructional skills demonstrated in the PE.
4. Complete and pass the written assessment.

Final Submission must include all the following components:

• Signed copy of Rowbics™ Code of Ethics
• Copy of CPR Certification
• Signed PE Approval Form
• Written assessment & answer sheet

Upon final submission, you will receive your Rowbics™ Instructor Certificate and be qualified to lead Rowbics™ Classes at Official Rowbics™ Centers. Further explanation of the steps to obtaining Rowbics™ Indoor Rowing Certification...

1. INTRUCTOR TRAINING WORKSHOP
The workshop is a comprehensive hands-on training workshop led by a Rowbics™ Master Instruct or consisting of interactive lecture, discussion, and exercise; it teaches students everything they need to know to begin teaching at Official Rowbics™ Exercise Centers. Rowbics™ Instructors will learn and master the following:

• Rowbics™ program purpose & philosophy
• proper rowing technique
• common mistakes and how to correct them
• machine set up & safety
• how to lead classes appropriate for students of all ages & abilities
• the science of rowing including physiology & biomechanics
• athletic training principles and programs for optimal fitness
• coaching skills
• hosting competitions
• motivational techniques
• breathing
• visualization
• music selection

2. PRACTICAL EVALUATION

Once the student-instructors have completed “the Workshop” portion of the training, they must then demonstrate what they have learned by leading fellow student - instructors through a 15 min. sample class. They must communicate and demonstrate full understanding of proper technique, safety guidelines, and the core components of Rowbics™ Programming.

3. REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF INSTRUCTIONAL SKILL
Based on criteria set by Rowbics™ for quality, consistency, safety, and integrity of the Program, the Master Trainer will assess the student - instructors’ competency and issue a signed PE Approval Form outlining areas of strength as well as areas for improvement.

4. WRITTEN ASSESSMENT

The written assessment is a series of questions that call upon the information covered in the workshop and the Instructor Training Manual. A score of 80% or higher is required for passing.
